Committees Church Property and Space Committee Duties: Recommend repairs needed and improvements advisable. Supervise painting and building repairs. Supervise maintenance of church grounds. Advise as to purchases of equipment and maintenance supplies. Set a schedule for general cleaning of entire building at regular intervals. Check furnace, fans, PA system. Make budget recommendations to church stewardship committee. This committee shall direct traffic, should the need arise, in the church parking lot. Committee on Committees Duties: Nominate chairpersons of all committees and all persons on the Nominating Committee. Decoration Committee Duties: Provide floral arrangements in the regular church service. Provide for seasonal and special decorations as may be expected from the congregation. Make budget recommendations to church stewardship committee. Food Service Committee Duties: Establish rules, policies and regulations relative to use of kitchen and post such rules, policies and regulations in a prominent place in the kitchen. Keep check on supplies and equipment for kitchen. Supervise cleaning and care of kitchen equipment. Make budget recommendations to church Stewardship Committee. Be responsible for refreshments and decorations for fellowships, etc. Be responsible for wedding and baby showers where at least one party of the couple is a church member, Sunday school member and/or regular attendee of the services, and/or special ministry opportunity. Greeting Committee Duties: It shall be the duty of this committee to extend a cordial greeting at all entrances to all persons attending church services. It shall be the duty of this committee to be ever alert in discovering visitors and prospective members. History Committee Duties: Collect and preserve all church materials of historical significance. Promote appreciation of our church’s heritage. Make budget recommendations to church stewardship committee. Media Center Duties: See that adequate space and equipment is provided for the needs of the Library. Establish Media Center policies, rules and regulations. Help guide the promotional program of the library in general areas of publicity. Cooperate with the Nominating Committee in the selection of a librarian for election by the church. To take care of and store, all visual aid equipment owned or controlled by the church. Make budget recommendations to church stewardship committee. Missions Committee Duties: To make the church aware of local mission needs. To guide in cooperation with the Associational Mission committee needs. Recommend goals and promote mission offerings. Supervise distribution of charitable goods. Nominating Committee Duties: It shall be the duty of the Nominating Committee to discover, interview, enlist and propose the election by the church such persons suitable to fill the position of the church offices excepting the pastor, staff personnel, and the deacons, also all committee members. Ordinance Committee Duties: See that dressing rooms are properly furnished, clean and neat. Set out the proper robes, towels, handkerchiefs, etc. for candidates. See that the proper amount of water is in the baptistery and is at the right temperature. Check with custodian to be sure baptistery is emptied and properly cleaned after use. Meet the candidates at the appointed time and show them to their dressing rooms. Assist the pastor in designating the proper order when there are a number of people to be baptized. Assist the candidates from the baptistery to their dressing room. Assist pastor in all arrangements relative to Lord’s Supper. See that all equipment used in the Lord’s Supper is properly cleaned and stored for future use. Make budget recommendations to church stewardship committee. Personnel Committee Duties: It shall be the duty of the Personnel Committee to search for, recommend, and suggest salaries of ministerial staff, secretaries, and custodians. The Personnel Committee shall conduct evaluations and maintain a current manual on all church staff members and/or employees, which will give job descriptions, salaries, vacations, time off for sickness, revivals, conferences, etc., and other benefits for church adoption. This committee shall review salaries/benefits annually and recommend adjustments to the church. Recreation Committee Duties: Shall plan, schedule, and supervise use of the building for recreational events. Stewardship Committee Duties: This committee in cooperation with the various department heads and other committees shall recommend to the church a budget including personnel expenses as directed by the personnel committee. This committee shall select the banks in which the funds of the church shall be deposited. It shall be the duty of this committee to compile a list of people to serve on the Counting Committee, of which will count, record, and deposit all monies in its possession in the proper designated bank. Transportation Committee Duties: Shall oversee the upkeep and policies of the church’s vehicle(s). Usher Committee Duties: This committee shall be responsible in securing ushers sufficient to seat the congregation (especially guests) at all church services. It shall be the duty of this committee to provide available personnel to take up and receive the offerings. The Usher Committee shall investigate and act according to their best judgment concerning anything unusual or disturbing during the service. Youth Advisory Committee Duties: Assist in planning and policy making for the over all youth ministry and special events. Help keep the church informed about youth ministry and needs. Be a source of information for parents of youth. Open to all church members.
