Our History

First Baptist Church of Nixa was born on October 10, 1914 from a joint six-week revival with the Nixa Christian Church.

Meeting in homes until eight charter members voted on Aug. 2, 1915 to build a two-room building. By 1950 there were 176 members and plans for a 3500 sq. ft. building dedicated October 1954.

By early 1957 dreams of a modern sanctuary began to form. Dedication services were held November 1960.  Now membership had climbed to 279.  There was an additional building added in 1981.

In 1989 a “Long Range Planning Committee” recommended the purchase of 8 acres of land on Wasson Drive. Dedication of our current building 1994.  A 10 year Anniversay Celebration was held in October 2004.
