We believe that Holy Scripture is comprised of the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament. We believe in the authority, clarity, necessity, and sufficiency of these Scriptures.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5
We believe that God eternally exists as three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully God, yet there is one God. We believe God is a creating God, a holy God, a faithful God, a loving God, and a sovereign God.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
III. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. Jesus lived a perfect life, died to make atonement for sin, rose physically from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God, and will return in salvation and judgment at the end of the age.
Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13
We believe that man was created in the image of God, created male and female as the crowning work of His creation. However, Adam and Eve sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, all mankind are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2
We believe that salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for all who believe. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. Election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end.
Matthew 11:28-30; John 1:12-13; 10:26-30; Romans 3:21-26; 5:1-11; 6:23; 8:28-30; 10:9-13; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:3-14; 2:1-10; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:1-5; 2:24
VI. The Church
We believe that a church is a local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. Jesus has given to the church two ordinances – baptism and the Lord’s Supper – which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. The church exists for the worship of God, the nurture of its members, and the evangelization of the world.
Matthew 16:15-19; 26:26-30; 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-47; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 1:2; 3:16; 11:23-29; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:8-11; 5:22-32; Colossians 1:18; 2:12; 1 Timothy 3:14-16
VII. Last Things
We believe that at the return of Christ the dead will be raised. Those who do not trust in Christ alone will be raised to everlasting punishment. Those who do trust in Christ alone will be raised to everlasting life and the enjoyment of God’s presence in the new heavens and the new earth.
Matthew 16:27; 25:31-46; Luke 12:40,48; 17:22-37; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; 17:30-31; 1 Corinthians 4:5; 15:24-28, 35-58; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 5:1ff.; 2 Thessalonians 1:7ff.; Hebrews 9:27-28; 2 Peter 3:7ff.; Revelation 1:18; 3:11; 20:1-22:13
