Discipleship Classes

First Baptist Nixa regularly offers discipleship classes to help our members and guests grow deeper in their faith.  Typically, we offer two eight-week sessions in the fall and two eight-week sessions in the spring.  Discipleship classes run from 7:00-8:15 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.

Below are the New classes for Fall 2017  which will begin Wednesday, August 16th @ 7PM

  • Happiness: God’s Invitation to Delight, Celebration, and Joy

Christians are supposed to be happy. In fact, we're supposed to radiate joy, peace, and contentment that are so unmistakable and so attractive that others are naturally drawn to us because they want what we have. And yet, in today's culture that vast majority of Christians are perceived as angry, judgmental people who don't seem to derive any joy from life. Randy Alcorn dispels centuries of misconceptions about happiness and will help lead you to real joy and biblical happiness. Facilitated by: Pastor Gordon

  • 1 Peter: A living Hope in christ-(ladies only)

This will be an in-depth Bible study verse by verse through the book of 1 Peter. This will also help you learn how to study the rest of the Bible as well.  Peter, a man of faith and flaws and an eyewitness to the life of Christ, challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance.

    Facilitated by: Debbie Cooper

  • baptist catechism

In Galatians 6:6 he says, “Let him who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches.” In this verse the Greek word for “instruct” or “teach” is katecheo. From this word, we get our English word “catechize.” It simply means to teach biblical truth in an orderly way.  Let this study shore up what you believe and why you believe it so that you might share it with another.
