Discipleship Classes

First Baptist Nixa regularly offers discipleship classes to help our members and guests grow deeper in their faith.  Typically, we offer two eight-week sessions in the fall and two eight-week sessions in the spring.  Discipleship classes run from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.

Below are descriptions of our current studies.

  • Spiritual disciplines for the christian life

If you need encouragement, if your daily routine has become dry and may I say boring to you, this study will seek to rejuvenate your deepest longings of your heart for intimacy and conformity to Christ through the very same spiritual disciplines the O.T. and N.T. characters practiced. These spiritual disciplines (Bible study, Prayer, Worship, Evangelism, Serving, etc.) are the means God has given us to become godly. This is the gateway to intimacy with and conformity to Christ Jesus our LORD.

  • Sermon on the mount-(ladies only)

In His sweeping depiction of kingdom citizenship, Jesus utters some of the most familiar passages in all of Scripture. Most of us have only encountered the Sermon on the Mount in fragments, considering its subdivision as complete teaching in their own right. But what if we navigated these three chapters in Matthew as they were originally heard: as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to htink differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus? Come and learn from Jesus, just as His disciples did.

  • baptist catechism

In Galatians 6:6 he says, “Let him who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches.” In this verse the Greek word for “instruct” or “teach” is katecheo. From this word, we get our English word “catechize.” It simply means to teach biblical truth in an orderly way.  Let this study shore up what you believe and why you believe it so that you might share it with another.
