Mission statement

First Baptist Nixa exists to connect people to God, to each other, and to the world for the glory of Jesus Christ.

We seek to accomplish this mission by implementing our four core values:

  • Gospel-Centered Life.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is our identity, our DNA, forming the core of who we are and what we do.  We treasure the good news that God justifies sinners by His grace alone, through faith alone, because of the blood and righteousness of Christ alone.  We cherish the sovereignty of God’s grace, the sufficiency of Christ’s redemption, and the effectual power of the Spirit’s application.  We exist because of the gospel, we are sustained by the gospel, and we delight to love and serve others for the sake of the gospel.
  • Word-Centered Worship.  The Word of God is at the center of worship at First Baptist Nixa.  Everything in our corporate worship is rooted and grounded in Scripture.  We read the Word (1 Tim. 4:13).  We pray the Word (1 John 5:14).  We sing the Word (Col. 3:16).  We preach the Word (2 Tim. 4:2).  We see the Word made visible in the sacraments (1 Cor. 11:23-26; Rom. 6:3-6).  We respond to the Word in faith and obedience (1 Thess. 2:13; James 1:22-25).
  • Christ-Centered Fellowship.  As believers in Christ, we are members of one body, united to Christ and to each other by the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:12-13).  Just as each member of our physical body is vitally connected to one another, so every member of Christ’s body (the church) is vitally connected as well.  Therefore, we value intimacy over anonymity.  We value the sharing of life over superficial relationships.  We seek to be a church that knows and loves one another deeply and unconditionally, sharing in each other’s joys and sorrows, triumphs and tragedies, successes and failures.  What unites us is not a common race, or a common socio-economic demographic, or common preferences.  What unites us is our common faith in the gospel.
  • God-Centered Mission.  Our mission is to spread the glory of God revealed in the gospel of Christ to every tribe, tongue, people, and nation, including those located nearest us in Nixa, Missouri.  We are commissioned by Christ to preach the gospel (Mark 16:15) and to relieve suffering (Matt. 25:31-46), and we do both for the ultimate purpose that God may be glorified in all the earth.  We believe the best way to accomplish this mission is through a simplified approach to church ministry.  Our desire is not to exhaust people with a multitude of ministry activities, but rather to refuel and refresh them through worship, that they may overflow with joy, grace, and love upon a hurting and hopeless world.
