Pillars

Every church has certain truths about which they are passionate and which permeate everything they do.  At First Baptist Nixa, we have three foundational pillars:

  • Expository Preaching

We love the word of God.  "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD" (Deuteronomy 8:3).  At First Baptist Nixa, we believe the best way to feed upon the word of God for the nourishment of our souls is through the regular, systematic exposition of Scripture.  By preaching verse-by-verse through books of the Bible, we seek to know God and to make Him known.

  • Reformed Theology

We trace our theological roots to the Reformation of the 16th century.  We joyfully affirm the doctrines of grace (total depravity, unconditional election, particular redemption, effectual calling, perseverance of the saints) and echo the five solas of the Reformation (sola gratia [Scripture alone], sola fide [faith alone], solus Christus [Christ alone], sola Scriptura [Scripture alone], soli Deo gloria [glory to God alone]).

  • Biblical Church Health

We are committed to being a strong, healthy New Testament church.  This means that we focus upon the biblical marks of a healthy church:

    • Expository Preaching
    • Biblical Theology
    • The Gospel
    • True Conversion
    • Biblical Evangelism
    • Covenant Membership
    • Biblical Church Discipline
    • Biblical Discipleship
    • Biblical Leadership of Elders & Deacons
